Tallinn Architecture Biennale: Exhibition “Copenhagen Solutions”
Denmark is comparable to Estonia by its territory (43 098 km2) which is surrounded by the Baltic Sea and North Sea with the coastline of 7314 km.
Denmark’s capital Copenhagen is situated on the coast of Zealand Island, facing Øresund Sound in the Baltic Sea. Due to the climate change – raising sea levels and heavier rain downpours foreseen by the meteorologists – Copenhagen is working out solutions for facing these challenges and protecting the city. The experience from August 2010 and July 2011, when many cellars and streets in Copenhagen were flooded, showed that measures are needed for avoiding such damages in the future. Sustainable city requires sustainable ways of managing water systems, energy, transport, etc.
The Climate Action Plan was developed to continue turning Copenhagen into a liveable and sustainable city that reaches to be carbon neutral by 2025. Exhibition “Copenhagen Solutions” shows how the Danish cleantech sector together with the City of Copenhagen plans to achieve that goal.
